Movie Review: Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
Of all the known midnight movies in existence I would put this at the top of my list (with Rocky Horror Picture Show in a close second). Now if you have never seen this movie ask your friends and if you have no friends than well go rent it or my suggestion is to buy a copy. Now you must be wondering, “well what is this movie about?” Well it’s about a trip (in more than one way). Its stars Johnny Depp as Raoul Duke (aka Hunter S. Thompson) and Benicio Del Toro as Dr. Gonzo (aka Oscar Zeta Acosta). It’s an adaptation of the book of the same name that was written by Mr. Thompson himself. Its based in Las Vegas in 1971 about Raoul Duke writing a column about a motocross race in the desert. Of course that’s not what you a really concerned about, it’s the antics and vary strange moments that occur before, during and after the said event. If anything you could call this a drug film, or a buddy film, I call it a damn good time. A lot of people I know really don’t like Johnny Depp because of some odd reason and I always tell them that after watching this movie you will change your mind.

    Acting:
BRILLIANT! You cannot deny the hart that Mr. Depp put into this role and Mr. Del Toro is a good bit of hummer in a dark twisted tale. There is no moment in this film that you even see a hint of these actors real personality because they are completely changed into there said characters. This film should be shown at acting schools to show them how it’s supposed to be done.

    Directing:
well it’s Terry Gilliam so its gunna be wacky and for this story he is the perfect guy for the job.

    Sound:
like most movies set in the 70’s there is a great soundtrack that sends you back into that era. Then there are the points during there journeys to the unknown where sound is distorted and loud in all the right places.

    Cinematography:
The brilliant colors of Vegas have either been dulled down or highly heightened depending on drug or mood.

    Total: 9 out of 10
